ECU swapped without my knowledge
« le: 19 mars 2025 à 13:59:37 »
Hi, my Vivaro was in a garage for a month and mechanic finally told me he can't fix it. I don't know what the issue was but it wasn't starting or driving and it wasn't just a battery issue.
Next mechanic found the ECU was badly damaged and second hand. All previous owners say they never changed the ECU. No readings could be got from it.
Is it possible to bring the ECU to a dealership for them to read it to see if it was ever programmed for my vehicle? Is this something they can check based on the serial number of the unit? No idea if it's possible to prove this but I need to know even just for myself! Thanks all!

Hey there and welcome mate.
Where are you located?
I don't think dealership will help you out with that. Can you tell us whether a light is blinking such as immo? if Immo is flashing and before it wasn't might be the case someone did change it.
To also make sure if you have a OBD scanner ( you can buy one chip from internet at low price) try to read the parameters of the ECU at least the VIN number. If VIN number doesn't match yours so someone did change it.
